Being an Iowa Peace Officer, I believe a permit holder needs to have well rounded knowledge of carrying a firearm in Iowa. This would include Iowa laws, other online permit training courses were written by someone who lives in Virginia or California. They are not from Iowa and they don’t know or care about Iowa laws. And they surely don’t enforce Iowa laws on a daily basis. With other online classes all you will get is basic handgun safety; it won’t mention Iowa law. If you don’t take a complete Iowa permit to carry class, like this one, you will need to do hours upon hours of research to learn Iowa laws of carrying a firearm.

THIS IS NOT A SHOOTING COURSE! This online Iowa permit to Carry class is not intended to teach defensive shooting tactics. I have my courses priced low so you can go buy an extra box or two of ammo and go practice. This class is just the start of your personal protection plan, it is not the end!

TIME: Once you gain access to the course you will have 30 days to complete the course. The average user is able to finish the course in about 1-2 hours.

This course is not timed and you can start and stop as much as you would like during your 30 days. You will be able to print a certificate of completion, after you have completed the course. The certificate will open in a new tab on your browser, and then just print from there or save to your computer to email or print later. Be sure to finish the class and print the certificate within 30 days, after the 30 days you will become un-enrolled in the class you paid for and any progress you made will be deleted. To keep the website fast this information has to be purged every so often.

Those who need to renew your permit: Iowa law requires a person apply within 30 days before or after their permit expires to be considered for a renewal. In other words, if your permit expires April 1st you should be applying between March and the end of April. The cost of a renewal permit is $25.
